Fundamental Analysis

Fundamental Analysis Workbooks

Fundamental analysis involves the analysis of a company’s fundamentals, such as financial strength and valuation ratios. It is the hope of any active investor that they can, through superior analysis, beat the market.

It isn’t difficult to find key company metrics on sites such as Yahoo! Finance, Morningstar, and Reuters. However these sites generally do a poor job allowing users to compare these metrics with companies in competitive industries. So to make fundamental analysis easier for everyone, I’ve designed some web queries for all ~230 S&P/TSX Composite Index companies.

Based on some great feedback, I have made the latest version of the file customizable. This means that a user will be able to select only the stocks they are interested in, which should save some time waiting for the update to complete. Furthermore, users can also select specific metrics important to them in order to create their own custom analysis worksheet.

Yahoo! Finance Statistics Query

For those looking for a quick and easy summary of statistics on S&P/TSX Composite Index companies, start with Yahoo! Finance Statistics. This source offers popular metrics including valuation measures such as PE, PB, and EV/EBITDA ratios, as well as measures of Management Effectiveness (ROE and ROA), Dividend Information, and much more.

Reuters Fundamental Analysis Query

For those looking for more in depth metrics, try out my S&P/TSX Composite Index Fundamentals Analysis Query with Reuters as my data source. It has many of the same metrics as the Yahoo! Finance query, but is more detailed with added per share, growth and margin ratios. This query takes longer to run, but it comes pre-populated with all ~230 stocks ready for you to analyze.
